Love a Good Story. I just Love a Good Story. Don’t you just Love a Good Story?
Well, here is another Good Story.
Blessings and Curses is now on NetGalley. This is a story very dear to my heart because the premise came from my high school students. I loved teaching high school, and I loved my students. From the time I began working at my high school to the time I left, I always thought I was given the best students. At the same time, they were a challenge. When a student feels like “a nothing” or “a nobody,” they give up. They drop out, attend but cause problems in their classes, or just sit. To me, those are signs of help. Loud and clear. So many students feel challenged in this world today and don’t see how they have anything to offer. My students felt like that. But these people were just absolutely wonderful, loving teens who could offer something. I couldn’t let them feel they had nothing to offer. I did (and said) many things to pull them out of the mire they were in. Since they saw “I was working so hard,” they gave in. Today, they’re doing well. Some of them have very good professional jobs and make more money than I do.
Blessings and Curses is a story about a woman who wanted to be a priest. But there was a curse or something over her, she thought, that prevented her from entering the priesthood. She sought advice from her priest. He asked her to pray for a man on death row who asked for prayer. In praying for the man, overwhelming and unexpected doors opened for Olivia that alarmed her and frightened her. What was this feeling she had? What did it mean? Would this take her away from her goal or lead her to her goal?
